CCAC celebrated a milestone for its nursing students on June 13 with a signing ceremony in Jones Hall on the Allegheny Campus. Leaders from CCAC and Ohio University joined together to sign an agreement allowing those who have earned associate Nursing degrees at CCAC to transfer into and complete an online bachelor’s degree program through the Ohio University School of Nursing RN to BSN program.

Nursing students at CCAC graduate in both the Spring and Fall semesters. In the full 2018-2019 academic year, a total of 334 nursing students graduated from the college as a whole; 114 of them were from the Allegheny Campus. The National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX, is the standardized test that nursing students take to determine if they are qualified to become an entry-level nurse. CCAC’s NCLEX pass rate for the 2017-2018 academic year was over 95 percent.

RNs who earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing are qualified to become clinical nurse specialists, nurse managers, nursing directors, nurse educators, clinical research nurses, public health nurses, quality assurance or improvement coordinators, case management nurses, and more. According to the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) career site, over 100 positions are currently available for registered nurses (RNs) at Allegheny General Hospital alone.
