District 21 Update: Pittsburgh Regional Transit rolls out new seniors program

Neighbors, Happy summer! To kick off the season, my office held our second annual Family Fair event! Families gathered to participate in games, grab some treats, meet some of Pittsburgh’s favorite mascots, and get connected with helpful state and local resources.

As we start to enter the warmer months, keeping cool is more expensive than ever. Duquesne Light Company offers a Customer Assistance Program that provides an alternative budget billing plan to combat high energy prices. Eligibility criteria and options for applying can be found on the Duquesne Light webpage or by calling our office.

This year, Pittsburgh Regional Transit will be rolling out their new Ready-Fare system. Senior ConnectCard riders will have extended access to their expired card until early 2027 but are encouraged to apply for the new ReadyFare card before then. Keep an eye out for written communication from PRT, and call our office with any questions.

As always, if you need any assistance with other state resources, do not hesitate to reach out to our office at (412) 781-2750 or email RepPowell@pahouse. net. My team also has office hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second floor of the Shaler Municipal Building, 300 Wetzel Road, Glenshaw, every Thursday.

Be well, Lindsay Powell
