Kitsch lovers convened at Nova Place for furniture, housewares, fashions, toys, and more.

The largest Pittsburgh Vintage Mixer ever was held on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Run by cofounders Bess Dunlevy, Jason Sumney, and Michael Lutz, all lovers of vintage, kitsch, and nostalgia, the event returned to the Northside and was held at Nova Place, formerly the Allegheny Center Mall.

This year, the event had 60 vendors selling genuine vintage and antiques. All of the vendors participating in the event were from the Pittsburgh region and brought a host of items for everyone in the market to reminisce over. There was furniture, housewares, fashion pieces, posters, books, vinyl, comics, toys, and so much more.

This year, the event’s cofounders worked to double their capacity for vendors and supplied vintage collectors with 3,000 covered parking spaces. Admission was five dollars and children under 12 could enter for free.

Described in a press release as a “one-of-a-kind genuine vintage vendor fair that melds community, creative inspiration, and nostalgia,” the family-friendly event also included food and drinks from the Allegheny Wine Mixer, Wigle Whiskey, Badamo’s Pizza, and piebird.

The Pittsburgh Vintage Mixer is listed in the newly released book 100 Things to Do in Pittsburgh Before You Die by Rossilynne Culgan of The Incline, and is also featured in Rick Sebak’s 2018 WQED documentary series “Nebby.” It began in 2012 and just completed its 14th season. Started with the common goal of bringing together local collectors and vendors under one roof, the event is perfect for anyone looking to find their own nostalgic treasure.
