Thursday, Nov. 14

Welcome to the Neighborhood: A 21+ Event at MuseumLab

Celebrate our favorite neighbor from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. with sweater-y crafts, tasty food, adult beverages, acts of kindness, and more. And some very special guests, to be announced soon! Sembène Film Festival: The Last of the Blue Devils

A screening of The Last of the Blue Devils presented by Sembène – The Film & Arts Festival. Event is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This is the first program of a four night festival held downstairs in the intimate Word Cellar. More information is available on the City of Asylum website and via Facebook.

Brighton Heights Citizens Federation General Membership Meeting

A town hall format open to the public! BHCF committee members, community leaders, and local organizations will share what’s going on in the neighborhood, and there’s always time for public comment. The meeting is located in the auditorium of John Morrow Elementary School, 3547 Massachusetts Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212, which is accessed through the courtyard on the corner of Fleming and Davis. The Fleming side is accessible. *Remember, in order to vote for Board Members in November, you must have an active membership and you must have attended at least 2 General Membership meetings. Meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 15

“Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” Lecture and Screening at CCAC Allegheny Campus

“Community College of Allegheny County’s Allegheny Campus will host a screening of the acclaimed documentary “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” along with a lecture by Dr. Roberta Schomburg, executive director of the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media, on Friday, November 15. The lecture will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by the screening from 12:45 to 2:15 p.m. and a Q&A period from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. The event will be held in the Foerster Student Services Center Auditorium and will conclude with a reception and refreshments in the auditorium lobby. The free event, which is jointly sponsored by Allegheny Campus Student Life and the Students for Human Life and Dignity Club, is open to the public as well as the CCAC community. The content will be of special interest to early childhood development and history students.”

Science After Hours: Yinzer Friendsgiving

“CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING WITH YOUR FRIENDS – PITTSBURGH STYLE! Price is $15 by purchasing tickets in advance at carnegiesciencecenter.org or $20 at the door. Carnegie Science Center will host an epic festival of everything “Pixburgh” at Science After Hours: Yinzer Friendsgiving on Friday, Nov. 15 from 6–10 pm for adults ages 21+ or older!” Click here for more information.

Saturday, Nov. 16

Behind-the-Scenes Tour at Penn Brewery

Join Penn Brewery at 1:00 pm on selected Saturdays, as one of their brewers leads a behind-the-scenes look at how they make their fine Penn beers. The $25 ticket price includes the tour, a 16 oz. beer, and your choice of either a Penn T-shirt or a filled growler. Space for each session is limited, so buy your ticket now on Showclix.com (links below). This event is for ages 21 and older. Please arrive by 12:30 pm and register in the restaurant. Community XR Event at CoLab18 at Nova Place

Pittsburgh Community Television, in partnership with XRconnectED, presents this fun and informational event from 1 to 3 p.m. Try out VR experiences, get information about creation tools, and learn about education and careers related to working with this technology. Ishtar hosts the Northside Hafla at Max’s Allegheny Tavern

“A Hafla on the Northside? WHY NOT? Ishtar is hosting the Northside Hafla at the Ratskeller downstairs at Max’s Allegheny Tavern, one of the Northside’s oldest bars. All LIVE MUSIC ALL NIGHT FROM PITTSBURGH’S AUTHENTIC BELLYROCK BAND! Located at 537 Suismon St., Pittsburgh, PA 15212. $5 cover. Max’s serves good German food (remember this is the Deutschtown neighborhood) and has a full bar. The Ratskeller is cozy, so arrive early for a good seat. The Grinch Returns to Wagsburgh

On November 10th & 17th from 11:00am to 3:00pm, bring your pets and kids by to have a picture taken with the Grinch. It’s a FREE event, but donations will help the folks at Senior Pet and Rescue. See you then!

Sensory Sensitive Science 18+ Night at Carnegie Science Center

“Carnegie Science Center invites visitors ages 18+ who are on the autism spectrum or are affected by sensory sensitivities to explore Pittsburgh’s most-visited museum after regular hours. Exhibit lights and sound effects will be adjusted, and special activities will be added to foster a safe, welcoming, and, most of all, fun environment for all visitors. Weather permitting, head up to the Buhl Planetarium’s Observatory for stargazing.” More information is available here.
