Traffic restrictions this weekend in Northside

Expect traffic on East North Avenue this and next weekend due to construction around Allegheny General Hospital.

Due to construction maintenance at the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Cancer Institute Academic Center, East North Avenue will be subject to traffic restrictions on the weekends of Friday, Jan. 18 through Sunday, Jan. 20 and again on Friday, Jan. 25 to Sunday Jan. 27. Restrictions will be in place so that crews can safely access crane lift equipment and supplies.

Traffic pattern adjustments are expected to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18 and will continue until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, then again on the weekend of Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. through Sunday, Jan. 27 until 6 p.m. East North Avenue will become a single lane from James Street to Cedar Avenue during these hours.

Westbound traffic will be rerouted from East North Avenue and near Allegheny Commons and westbound ambulances will reroute down James Street, to Hemlock Street, and then to Sandusky Street. Signage and flaggers will be around the affected area to maintain traffic control.

During the five-day work week in between the two weekends, Monday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 25, all traffic patterns will return to normal.
