Long-term detour on Spring Garden Road in Reserve Township to begin June 2
Commuters who travel along Spring Garden Road through Reserve Township are asked to take an alternative route starting June 2 at 9 a.m. due to a road closure lasting through September.
According to a prepared statement from Allegheny County’s Department of Public Works, the road closure is due to a nearly half-million dollar construction project related to road repairs and the replacement of curb and pavement markings. Those who live on the street where the closure is planned will still be able to access their homes during construction.
The closure also temporarily discontinues five bus stops served by the 7 Spring Garden Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) bus route.
According to PRT, the 7 Spring Garden will detour through Mt. Troy Road, Ivory Avenue, Evergreen Road, East Street, Mt. Pleasant Road, and Beech Street. Riders can get on the bus at a temporary stop located on Beech Street at Spring Garden Road.
Drivers who normally use Spring Garden Road can take Spring Garden Avenue, Vinial Street, Troy Hill Road, Lowrie Street, Ley Street, Rialto Street, Pittview Avenue, and Mt. Troy Road to bypass construction.
