Northside Happenings August 16 to 19, 2018

Northsiders: This weekend, The Priory Hotel hosts its August Wine Party, The Andy Warhol Museum continues its half-price “Good Friday” series and The Park House features DJ Tia Roberts.

Thursday, August 16

Big Band Swing Dancing with the Jazz Conspiracy

Every first and third Thursday of the month, join the Jazz Conspiracy band at the Allegheny Elks Lodge #339, 400 Cedar Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. The night starts at 7:15 p.m. with a dance lesson by Mark Peters, then the Jazz Conspiracy goes on from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Cover is $10. For more information, check out the Facebook event page.

Penguins & Pajamas at the National Aviary

From 5 to 8:30 p.m., don your favorite pajamas and watch a movie alongside the aviary’s African Penguins. All ages are welcome. Cost is $8 for members; otherwise general admission rates apply. For a full schedule of the evening’s festivities, check out the aviary’s website.

August Wine Party at the Priory

Certified sommelier Adam Knoerzer of Dreadnought Wines & Spirits hosts an evening of great wine and food featuring wines from the Ken Forrester Estate of South Africa. Event is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $60 and must be prepaid. Get yours here.

Friday, August 17

Walk-in Vaccine Hours at the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society

Karaoke at Scratch Food & Beverage

Scratch F&B in Troy Hill hosts their weekly Friday night karaoke. The event starts at 9 p.m. For more information, visit their Facebook page.

Good Friday at the Andy Warhol Museum

Enjoy half-price admission, extended hours, and a cash bar every Friday night from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Andy Warhol Museum. Current exhibitions include “Adman: Warhol Before Pop,” focusing on Warhol’s first ten years in New York and his commercial illustration work. More information here.

Saturday, August 18

Flea Market at St. Michael & All Angels Lutheran Church

Every Saturday year-round, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. rain or shine, check out the St. Michael & All Angels Lutheran Church Flea Market located at 1308 Spring Garden Ave. It’s $10 to rent a table: Vendors, call Jon Harangozo at 412-322-2102 to make a reservation or for more information. Fresh donuts and food available.

Stars at Riverview Jazz Series at Riverview Park

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, relax and listen to music from local jazz artists. This week, guitarist Rick Finkelstein and his band performs. Michael Jackson Laser Show at the Carnegie Science Center
