Northside Business & Community Briefs: March 2024

New café opens in Brighton Heights

A new café in Brighton Heights held its grand opening in January and is now open for business.

Collective Boutique Café celebrated its grand opening from Jan. 16-19. The café is located at 3889 Brighton Road.

The cafe’s hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Sundays, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Orders can be placed in-person or online, at collective-boutiquecafe.square.site

Multiple events at Riverview Park in March

The city of Pittsburgh is hosting multiple events at Riverview Park this March, all open to the public.

Two events will take place on March 16, starting with Litter Pickers. The city is looking for volunteers to help pick up litter around the park. Equipment will be provided, though attendees should wear sturdy footwear and clothing that can get dirty. The event will last from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and will start at the Visitor Center, located at 1 Riverview Ave.

Registration is not required but helpful for organizers. To register or for more info, contact Ranger Nancy Schaefer at Nancy.Schaefer@pittsburghpa.gov or at (412) 616-0383.

Later on in the day, a Soil Hike will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. starting at the Visitor Center. During the hike, Pittsburgh Park Rangers will discuss the creatures who call soil home, giving information about the importance of soil to the ecosystem.

Interested attendees should wear hiking shoes and dress for the weather. Registration is required, at eventbrite.com/e/riverview-soil-hike-tickets-803204926557. For questions, contact Ranger Merna, at merna.goose@pittsburghpa.gov.

Finally on March 24, there will be a Full Moon Hike and visit to Allegheny Observatory from 7:45 to 10 p.m. starting at the Visitor Center. Attendees will hike Riverview trails for about a mile using only moonlight and then visit the observatory for some celestial viewing, weather permitting.

Registration is required by contacting Ranger Schaefer by her previously mentioned email or phone number.

Observatory Hill Inc. changes meeting dates
