Boy Scout project to restore Riverview Park trail needs volunteers
The Brighton Heights Boy Scout Troop 348 is currently restoring the Bridle Trail steps in Riverview Park, a public service project that was created by the Troop’s graduating seniors to fulfill their Eagle Scout requirements.
The project began on Monday, June 12 and will end on Monday, June 19. The troop is in need of food donations and volunteers who are capable of heavy lifting and available between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Evening hours to volunteer are also available. If possible, volunteers are asked to bring one or more of the following tools: shovels, rakes, work gloves, and wheel barrow.
The young men and volunteers working on the project will be using concrete millings to restore the currently dilapidated steps leading to the Bridal Trail to increase the connectivity between Brighton Heights and Marshall-Shadeland neighborhoods.
The project was successfully pitched to Pittsburgh City Council and has also gained the support of the City’s Department of Public Works.
