District 1 News: Public comment sought for rental permit program
District 1 News: Public comment sought for rental permit program
Hello everyone, Last September, City Council passed legislation to permit registration and inspection of all rental properties in the City of Pittsburgh, which includes both short and long-term rentals. This program, which will be implemented by the City’s Department of Permits, Licenses, and Inspections (PLI), will provide for systematic registration and inspection of residential rental properties. I’m happy to share that PLI is now accepting public comment for the Residential Housing Rental Permit Program, which ends on Sept. 30. 09/04/2024 09:00 AM

District 20 News: Kinkead: It’s time to legalize recreational cannabis
The War on Drugs has been a complete and utter failure. As addiction and overdose death rates continue to climb every year, it has become abundantly clear that criminalizing a substance does not deter its use and, in many ways, creates more problems than it solves. In 2024, it makes no sense at all to continue arresting people for possessing cannabis, perhaps the least harmful recreational drug. But in 2022, over 12,000 people were arrested in Pennsylvania for cannabis crimes. 07/29/2024 09:00 AM

District 1 News: New resolution authorizes city to contract with plumbers
Hello everyone, At the start of the summer season, my office received numerous calls asking about the status of various water features and drinking fountains within city parks. The City has one plumber who is responsible for preparing the pools, spray parks, drinking fountains, and bathrooms along with addressing any issues that arise in recreation centers, senior centers, and any other cityowned building. One person cannot manage all of these responsibilities and these city services need to be provided for all of our residents. 07/22/2024 09:00 AM
