Magisterial District 05-2-42 News: R.I.P. Bethany House
Magisterial District 05-2-42 News: R.I.P. Bethany House
In the evening of Feb. 6, my son and I both took notice of the several fire trucks that were racing past our home on the way to what for us at the time, was some unknown destination. While a fire truck or two going past is not unusual, this occurrence stood out as it lasted for several minutes and seemed to include “countless” rescue vehicles. We concluded that there must be a devastating fire “somewhere”, and we hoped that everyone was okay. In the early morning of Friday, Feb/ 7, 2025, a friend texted me with a news screenshot of a burned out structure and one simple line, “R.I.P. BETHANY HOUSE.” This prompted me to immediately turn on my television at which point the connection between the events the night before and my friend’s text became obvious. And although the news was reporting a devastating fire in Reserve Township, let’s be abundantly clear, the Bethany House was Northview Heights (NVH). 03/01/2025 10:00 AM

District 1 News: Wilson examines Inclusionary Zoning proposals
District 1 News: Wilson examines Inclusionary Zoning proposals
Hello everyone, I want to take the time to share a few of my priorities for the Northside and District 1 for 2025. The topic of Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) is front and center for City Council. Mayor Gainey has submitted a city-wide IZ proposal to the Planning Commission, requiring developers to build 10% of their total units at 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI) or below. Full details can be found here: engage.pittsburghpa.gov/implementing- housing-needs-assessment/ inclusionary-zoning-iz. The Planning Commission is expected to vote on this proposal soon, and it will likely come to City Council in February. 02/05/2025 12:00 PM
