Town Talk: Oliver’s Flower Shop — Delivering flowers since 1929
Town Talk: Oliver’s Flower Shop — Delivering flowers since 1929
Pittsburgh is famous for so many things that it is hard to compile all of them into a single list. Yet, there may be one famous fact that might not be as well known. It is the connection of the 1952 classic movie “Singin’ in the Rain” to a historic Pittsburgh flower shop. To learn what that connection is, you will need to read the rest of this column. I do not want to spoil the surprise. 10/21/2024 09:00 AM

District 1 News: Over 500 feet of new sidewalk built in Spring Hill
Hello everyone, The fall season is finally here and with that comes cooler weather, the changing of the leaves, and pumpkin-flavored treats everywhere you turn. There’s one pumpkin- themed event that you won’t want to miss: East Allegheny Community Council’s 30th Annual Pumpkinfest! This year’s event will be held on Oct. 12 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Allegheny Commons East, at the corner of East Ohio Street and Cedar Avenue. There are many activities for all ages including pumpkin decorating, hayrides, crafts, and more. I especially want to thank Barbara Burns for her work in organizing this event for the past 30 years and to the EACC Board for their continual support of this event. More details can be found here: deutschtown.org/pumpkinfest. 10/08/2024 11:00 AM

District 20 News: Discussing food insecurity, need for food bank volunteers
Over 1.5 million people, including more than 436,000 children, experience food insecurity in Pennsylvania every year. With September being Hunger Action Month, now is the time to have a conversation about how we can work together to combat hunger here in Allegheny County and across the Commonwealth. One of the best things you can do as an individual to combat hunger in our region is to support the work being done by your local food bank. 09/30/2024 09:00 AM
