It was rubber ducks galore down in Allegheny Commons Park as the annual Steel City Duck Derby returned for another year. The fundraiser, organized by the Partners For Quality Foundation, sees participants buy rubber ducks to take part in a race around Lake Elizabeth, with more than 10,000 ducks taking part in total. Participants can purchase ducks in quantities of up to 24, giving them a higher chance of victory. Winners receive cash prizes and/or gift cards to local businesses, with the top three winners this year receiving gift cards to North Shore Tavern and fourth and fifth places receiving cards for Caliente Pizza. All proceeds benefit Partners For Quality’s family of nonprofit agencies, which serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as with behavioral health challenges.
