The Chronicle subscriber wins Cutest Baby Photo Contest

By Sean P. Ray | Managing Editor

We have a winner and boy is she adorable!

The Northside Chronicle’s Cutest Baby Photo Contest has come to a close. We had a total of six absolutely precious baby photos submitted to us from Northiders and Chronicle subscribers. Each one of them brought many “awwwws” from Chronicle staff, but in the end, only one could be crowned cutest baby.

When it came time to vote, two babies in particular took the lead. Baby Shaw, submitted by Lauren Abt, took an early lead and seemed like the favorite to win, garnering 19 votes by the end of the weekend after voting opened up.

However, starting on March 25, a large number of votes started pouring in for another contender. For a while it was looking close, and we even thought we’d end up with a tie, but another flood of votes on March 26 decided the winner.

With spring having so recently started, our winner is perhaps seasonally appropriate, given that she’s named after a flower. Daisy, sent in by her mother Michelle Lehr, has won the Cutest Baby Photo Contest with a total of 31 votes, representing 53.4% of the total.

This is a special victory because Michelle is a subscriber to The Chronicle, and this was the first photo contest we opened up to subscribers as well as Northside residents. However, we allowed subscribers to submit the last month we were accepting entries. Seems like it was a worthwhile change.

Congratulations to Daisy. You are The Northside Chronicle’s cutest baby! Or at least until we decide to do this category again for the photo contest.

In recognition of the good fight Shaw gave for the crown, we’ll be publishing their photo as well below. Shaw’s photo was sent in to us by Lauren Abt of Manchester, and garnered 25 votes, equaling 43.1% of the total.

Now, onto the business of our next photo contest. As mentioned, spring has sprung, and that’s exactly the focus of our next competition.

The theme for the next contest is “Spring on the Northside!” We want your best photos of flowers blooming, bright suns or anything else which captures the feel of the season on our side of town.

The contest is open to Northside residents and subscribers. We’ll be accepting entries through June 19, and voting will take begin the following day, June 20, on our website, thenorthsidechronicle. com.

Submissions can be sent to us via email, at editor@thenorthsidechronicle. com, or sent to our Instagram account, @nschronicle. Participants should include their name, their photo title or where they took the photo at, and either their Northside residence or if they are a subscriber.

Voting is done via public poll. Winners will have their photo published in the July edition of The Northside Chronicle and earn certain bragging rights. If the contest is particularly close, we may also publish runners-up either in print or online.

Only one submission can be made for each participant. If you send in more than one photo, we’ll pick only one to be used.

So get on out there Northside, enjoy the warming weather and blooming flowers, and get us the best pictures of spring you can find!
