July 2023 poll results

By Sean P. Ray | Managing Editor

With the end of July, the summer is almost over. Only one month left.

But don’t be sad, dear readers, as the end of the month means it’s time once again to take a look at the results of The Chronicle’s weekly polls!

We started off July by asking if you took part in our Cutest Pet Photo contest. The contest was a big hit, with 40 entries and nearly 200 votes cast.

Ultimately, Amy Shreckengost of Deutschtown came out ahead with her wonderful photo of her dog Reggie. As for the poll, one-third of you voted “Yes, I submitted my pet!” while another third voted “No, but I heard about it.” A further one-sixth of respondents voted “Yes, I voted for the cutest pet!” and another sixth voted “No, I didn’t know it was happening.”

Our next question asked what you all thought of The Chronicle’s new front page design. We’re happy to share that all the feedback was positive. Two-thirds of you said “I like it” while the final third went the extra mile and voted “I really like it!”

Next we asked whether you were sick of the summer heat yet, and it turns out the answer was a resounding yes. A total of 71.4% of you voted “Autumn can’t get here soon enough.” The remaining percentage of the votes were split evenly between “Nope! I like it hot!” and “I mostly enjoy it, but sometimes it’s too much.”

We finished out with our most popular poll of the month, in which we asked “Which is your favorite Pittsburgh pro sports team?” It was a close race, but The Penguins came out barely ahead at 36.3% of the vote. The Pirates and The Steelers tied with 27.2% of the vote apiece, while the nebulous “Other” option received 9% of the vote. The Riverhounds, sadly, received no votes.

And that’s the end of the poll results. Make sure to vote in The Chronicle’s weekly polls, posted every Sunday. Just visit thenorthsidechronicle. com and scroll down the homepage until you see the poll.
