What does it sound like when bagpipes rock out?

Hear traditional Celtic music, followed by an original Celtic-Fusion performance

At 7:00pm, Saturday, Nov. 12th, following the Balmoral Classic US Junior Solo Piping Championships, Pittsburgh’s Balmoral School will present Seven Nations live in concert. The band’s first set will feature more traditional Celtic music, the second set will include Celtic-Fusion, proving once and for all that bagpipes rock.

Seven Nations has been touring full-time since 1994 with successful stops in Europe, Canada, Puerto Rico, and virtually every state in the US. Equally at home in front of 40,000 cheering fans at an international festival, with widely recognized, Grammy award-winning symphony orchestras, or with 300 fans in a small Midwest club, the band has created a truly hybrid sound and transient live show.

“Seven Nations—the name refers to the seven Celtic nations of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Galicia, Isle of Man and Brittany—officially began in 1993 in New York City with a standard line-up of drums, guitars, and bass,” notes lead singer and guitarist Kirk McLeod. “We soon introduced bagpipes into the show and, over time, the number of songs utilizing bagpipes grew until it became obvious that they were integral to our emerging sound. Most of the band members grew up playing Celtic music and we’ve been performing original compositions since we began. Our instrumentation, and bagpipes and fiddle, give us a distinctive sound and that’s what makes us different.”

Tickets for the concert are on sale now for $35, $15 for Students w/ID and Seniors 65+. To purchase, call 888-71-TICKETS, or go to SHOWCLIX online.

The concert venue is Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15260. There will be a silent auction to benefit the Balmoral School in the 7th floor lobby, before the concert.
