Northside Traffic Alert for July 29, 2019

PennDOT District 11 is announced overhead sign structure work on the I-279 Parkway North Improvement Project in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will begin tonight, Monday night, July 29 weather permitting.

Sign improvement work will occur from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the following locations requiring single lane restrictions:

  • Southbound I-279 between the North Route 65 Ohio River Boulevard (Exit 1C) off-ramp and the Fort Duquesne Bridge
  • Southbound I-279 between the East Ohio Street Exit (Exit 2B) and the South I-579 Veteran’s Bridge Exit (Exit 2A)

Additionally, sign structure work requiring single lane restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the following locations:

  • Reedsdale Street at the intersection with Mazeroski Way
  • Evergreen Road at the intersection with McKnight Road
  • East Lacock Street at the intersection with Mazeroski Way

The work will continue through Friday, August 9 as crews from the Trumbull Corporation and Lindy Paving conduct the work.

PennDOT District 11 also announced lighting installation work on the Perrysville Avenue on-ramp to northbound I-279 (Parkway North) in Ross Township, Allegheny County will occur Tuesday and Wednesday, July 30-31.

Lighting installation work, requiring a shoulder closure on the Perrysville Avenue on-ramp to northbound I-279, will occur from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Additionally, the on-ramp will be placed in a stop configuration.

The $87.94 million I-279 Parkway North Improvement Project includes concrete patching and overlay, preservation of 30 bridges and 49 overhead sign structures, repairs to 29 walls, ramp repairs, lighting improvements, HOV lane operation systems upgrades, sign upgrades, guide rail and drainage improvements, and an anti-icing system installation on bridges at the McKnight Road interchange.

Crews from the Trumbull Corporation and Lindy Paving will conduct the work.  Please use caution while driving through the area.  Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.
