Children of all ages will love learning the fundamentals of slacklining with Rachel and Cassie of the Steel City Slackers, plus get ready to have fun and get dirty at the first Riverview Park Trail Work Day of the year, with free coffee provided by Commonplace. This and more, this weekend in the Northside.

Thursday, March 28

In Your Business – City Council Candidate Forum at Hip at the Flashlight Factory

As part of the North Side/Shore Chamber of Commerce’s evening “In Your Business” event series, this is a moderated panel of candidates running for the District 1 seat for Pittsburgh City Council. The candidates will specifically be addressing questions posed by an emcee. It is free to attend, but registration is required. More information is available here.  Register here.

Get the Job Workshop at Carnegie Library – Allegheny

Corningworks Glue Factory Project at New Hazlett Theater

A unique sensory experience, an evening wherein you’ll be suspended
between shadow and light, grounded and floating, a surreal landscape of movement, light sound, and meaning. Full evening length dance theater productions created on internationally and nationally renowned performers over the age of 40. Performances tonight through Sunday, March 31. Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at Providence Connections

Stop by Providence Connections at 3113 Brighton Rd., 15212, for a spaghetti dinner to raise funds for a brand new outdoor classroom. Dinner is from 4 to 7 p.m. It’s a self-serve buffet with family-style seating. Take out is available. Adults are $8 and children under 12 are $5. Orders must be placed in advance online at www.walkwithprovidence.org or at the front desk no later than Thursday, March 28. The All-In Silent Disco at the Children’s Museum

A dance party with a twist: DJs will play music into headphones that all attendees receive upon arrival courtesy of Frequency-528! Vibrating backpacks and floor panels mean everyone can feel the music and have a great time regardless of ability. DJ Mateo Mattos, Stephanie Tsong from the Jellyfish crew, and Arie Cole will be dishing out the music and Bea Taco Town will be dishing out the tacos with beer tastings provided by Fresh Fest Beer Fest. The event is free and open to anyone over 21 who wants to have a good time and be a part of the Inclusive Innovation Summit. More information available here.

Steel City Slackers at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh

Join Rachel and Cassie of the Steel City Slackers from 12 to 3 p.m. in the Children’s Museum Studio to explore balance in a whole new way! Watch, play and learn the fundamentals of slacklining as they are taught and demonstrated on an indoor slackline for all levels and ages. This event is included in a day pass or membership at the museum. More information available here.

Riverview Park Trail Work Day

Have fun, get dirty, and improve the Riverview trails for all the dog walkers and bike riders and trail runners and bird watchers and nature lovers of the Northside from 9 a.m. to noon on the last Saturday every month–with coffee provided by Commonplace! WHAT TO BRING: pants and long sleeves, boots and gloves, and tools if you got ’em. Hosted by Trail Pittsburgh, Friends of Riverview Park, and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. Cash Bash/Monte Carlo Night at St. Cyril of Alexandria Church

Northside Catholic Assumption Academy welcomes you to their first Cash Bash/Monte Carlo Night. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner is served at 6 p.m. and drawings start at 7 p.m. Located at 3854 Brighton Rd., 15212. Spring Hill Brewing is throwing a party to start the season! To welcome in warmer weather, food truck season and to show off the space, join them on Saturday, March 30. The Art of Clowning Workshop at the Children’s Museum

Come explore ideas of identity, culture, and humor through the art theatrical clowning with F.I.N.E. Artist, O’Ryan ‘the O’Mazing’ Arrowroot! Prop play, visual art, and character acting all come together in this workshop to give you an understanding of yourself and the world you live in. Whether it is a balloon, a scarf, or a red nose, you will take the tools of the common clown and explore their possibilities and their meaning to you. To be the fool, you must embrace and laugh at your differences, your commonalities, and the beautiful mistakes that make you human. This FREE workshop is designed for ages 8-10. Limited spaces.
