Northside Happenings July 26 to 29, 2018

Get ready for a solid weekend in the Northside. Learn to communicate and listen effectively with the Northside Toastmasters Club, hear Grand Piano perform at The Park House, and drink whiskey and eat hot dogs at the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse & Whiskey Garden to support Pit Bull rescue.

Thursday, July 26

Toastmasters at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh – Allegheny

Build your confidence as you learn how to listen and communicate effectively. Join the Northside Toastmasters club every 2nd and 4th Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the main meeting room. Email northsidetoast@gmail.com with questions.

Live Music in the Beer Garden at Federal Galley

Local musicians hold acoustic performances every Thursday night throughout the summer in the Beer Garden at Federal Galley. This week, from 7 to 9 p.m., enjoy a performance by Maggie Weaver. Free to attend. More information available on the Facebook event page.

Northside Farmer’s Market

Did you know the Citiparks Farmers Market accepts ACCESS cards? Check it out every Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. through November at Allegheny Commons Park on the East Common at Cedar Avenue. For more information, head to the Facebook event page.

Good Friday at the Andy Warhol Museum

Enjoy half-price admission, extended hours, and a cash bar every Friday night from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Andy Warhol Museum. Current exhibitions include “Adman: Warhol Before Pop,” focusing on Warhol’s first ten years in New York and his commercial illustration work. More information here.

Grand Piano at The Park House

Starting at 9:30 p.m., Grand Piano will play a show at The Park House. According to its Facebook page, Grand Piano’s sound “…navigates smoothly through blues, folk, jazz, and honky-tonk influences with the help of a horn section and occasional pedal steel.” Admission is free. Flea Market at St. Michael & All Angels Lutheran Church

Every Saturday year-round, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. rain or shine, check out the St. Michael & All Angels Lutheran Church Flea Market located at 1308 Spring Garden Ave. It’s $10 to rent a table: Vendors, call Jon Harangozo at 412-322-2102 to make a reservation or for more information. Fresh donuts and food available.

Sahaja Meditation at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh – Allegheny

Saturdays from 11 a.m. to noon, learn to reduce stress and balance your health. Everyone is welcome. Learn more via the Pittsburgh Sahaja Meditation Meetup group.

Stars at Riverview Jazz Series at Riverview Park

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, relax, and listen to music from local jazz artists. This week, the Jay Vonada Quartet performs. Wags & Whiskey at the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse & Whiskey Garden

From 2 to 5 p.m., join Wigle, Camp Bow Wow and Biggies Bullies Rescue, a foster home based rescue for Pit Bull breeds, for a dog friendly charity event. Tomchess & Bandit Hat at City of Asylum

Starting at 6 p.m., NYC-based multi-instrumentalist and composer Tomchess will perform Near Eastern and North African-influenced music with the Bandit Hat Trio. Attendance is free with an R.S.V.P. More information available via the Facebook event page.
