Plenty of outdoor fun this weekend with Riverview Park’s cinema series, summer reading kickoff parties, and the Mattress Factory’s Community Garden Party.

Thursday, June 14

Summer Reading Kickoff Party at Woods Run Library

The Woods Run Carnegie Library will be hosting a Summer Reading Kickoff Party from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Guests will be able to enjoy free activities, refreshments and a performance of “Pirates of the Mon,” a Gemini Theater production. For more information, visit the library’s event page.

Greywalker Listening and Dinner Party at Pear and the Pickle

Pear and the Pickle will be hosting a listening party for Greywalker’s newest album, “Without Control.” The band will be on site to talk about their new album and guests will be able to enjoy dinner courtesy of the Pear and the Pickle kitchen along with brews from Penn and Rock Bottom Breweries. Lawyers behind Bars at Allegheny City Brewing

Looking to start up a small business or need some legal advice? Attorney Bryan Tuk will be at ACB from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., offering up some legal guidance for interested parties. Tuk’s firm focuses on entrepreneurs and startups. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

Northside Farmers Market

Karaoke at Scratch Food & Beverage

Looking to blow off some steam and belt out some tunes? Scratch F&B in Troy Hill will be hosting their weekly Friday night karaoke. The fun starts at 9 p.m. For more information, visit their Facebook page.

 

Saturday, June 16

Sensory-Friendly Workshop at the Andy Warhol Museum

The Andy Warhol Museum will be hosting a sensor-friendly workshop from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The event is designed for teens and young adults and will explore Andy Warhol’s early career work. The event is limited to the first 20 participants. For more information, visit the museum’s event page.

Super Hero Matinee at Woods Run Library

As part of their Saturday matinee series, the Woods Run Library will be hosting a special super hero edition at 2 p.m. For more information, visit the library’s event page.

Gary Fincke at City Books

Author Gary Fincke will be at City Books in Allegheny West for a book reading of his newest work, “The Darkness Call.” The book is a collection of personal essays from Finke and recently won the Robert C. Jones Prize for Short Prose. The event starts at 7 p.m. For more information, visit City Books’ event page.

Cinema in the Park at Riverview Park

As part of the summer-long series sponsored by Dollar Bank, Riverview Park will be hosting a special screening of 1999’s “The Mummy” at dusk. For more information or a full listing of upcoming films, visit Pittsburgh Park Conservancy’s event page.

“The Art of the Brick” at PPG Science Pavilion

The PPG Science Pavilion opens its doors this weekend with the public reception of “The Art of the Brick,” the world’s largest LEGO exhibit. Showtimes start at 10:30 a.m. and the exhibit will be on display from June 16 through January 7, 2019. For more information, visit the science center’s event page.

 

Sunday, June 17

Community Garden Party at the Mattress Factory

The Mattress Factory will be hosting their annual Community Garden Party from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Guests can enjoy a plethora of events and activities with team members from Allegheny YMCA, Allegheny Carnegie Library, Carnegie Science Center, Union Projects and Venture Outdoors. Allegheny Library Events

The Allegheny Library will be hosting a ‘hand’s on’ needle workshop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in addition to their weekly Sahaja meditation class at 3:30 p.m. For more information, visit the library’s event page.
