From French wine to a Hungarian string band, this weekend you can travel the world without leaving the Northside. Or if you’d rather travel to your favorite decade, that’s an option too.

Thursday,May 31

Fleet Feet Pub Run Series & Trivia Night at Allegheny City Brewing

Looking for a new, fun way to get some exercise? This Thursday, Fleet Feet Pittsburgh is hosting their monthly pub run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. . Choose from either a 3 or 5 mile map, get in your cardio, then celebrate with a few drinks and some trivia with Aaron DeLeo at Allegheny City Brewing. Tickets are available at on Fleet Feet’s website. Running isn’t your thing? 

1940’s Swing Dance Concert

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum will be hosting a 21st Century Swing Band from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The band features Grammy Award winning musician and producer, Marty Ashby, renowned jazz guitarist, Joe Negri, and former director of jazz studies at Duquesne University, Dr. John Wilson. Open Mic Night at Scratch F&B

Scratch in Troy Hill is hosting Open Mic nights with Lee Hitenlang and Her Ladyship from 9 p.m. until midnight, late night food and drink menu starts at 10 p.m. All acts are welcome. Gypsy Stringz at Huszar

Interested in hearing some new music? This four-piece Hungarian string band will be playing at Huszar from 7 p.m to 10 p.m. Stop by for great food and an evening out of the ordinary. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

French Wine Party at The Priory

Friday June 1

Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls

Folk singer-songwriter and his band, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, take the stage at Stage AE on Friday night. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the shows starts at 7 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the event’s Facebook page.

MCG Jazz Night

Join Chuck Redd & The MCG Jazz Quartet at Rivers Casino Drum Bar from 9 p.m. to midnight for an evening filled with live jazz music! Admission is free and no RSVP is required.

Teen Town Hall at The Andy Warhol Museum

Hundreds of teens congregated at The Warhol in mid-March for its annual event, Youth Invasion: Stay Woke, where young artists discussed their unique understanding of Warhol’s work. Now, they are continuing their engagement with a panel of youth and adult activists in a town hall style event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in The Warhol theater. Space is limited, so be sure to register online through the event’s Facebook page.

Sun Hound Single at The Park House

The local alternative rock duo will be celebrating the release of their new single, “Drifted Off,” from 9 p.m. until midnight. There will prize giveaways and merchandise available for purchase. Neighborhood Block Party at Pittsburgh Project

The Pittsburgh Project is hosting their annual Community Block Party at Fowler Park to raise awareness for the numerous resources available for residents. Saturday June 2

City of Asylum Bookstore Storytelling Hour

City of Asylum at Alphabet City is hosting their weekly Storytelling for Kids every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Join them for an hour-long event in which children will hear stories from around the world. For more information, visit the bookstore’s event page. 

Decades Night at Mullen’s Bar & Grill

Electric Elegance Entertainment is hosting Decades Night at Mullen’s every Friday and Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Come out for a night of nostalgia with all of your favorites from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Brighton Heights Neighborhood Yard Sale

Join the neighborhood of Brighton Heights for this year’s yard sale, with over 50 participating homes. The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Check out the event’s Facebook page for an overview of some of the items that will be available.

Spring Hill Outdoor Movie Night

Spring Hill Civic League is offering a free showing of the American adventure comedy, The Goonies, at Weisenhaus Park at 8:45 p.m., weather permitting. Snacks will be provided. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

 

Sunday June 3

Sahaja Meditation at the Allegheny Carnegie Library

Looking for a relaxing, stress-free way to spend your Sunday afternoon? Join the Allegheny Carnegie Library from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for an hour of you-time, centering and refocusing yourself through a meditation practice. Open to everyone from the novice to the most seasoned yogi. Visit the library’s website for more information.

Pittsburgh NephCure Walk

NephCure Kidney International is hosting their 2018 walk event at North Shore Riverfront Park and Trail to benefit those living with kidney disease. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 10 a.m. To register, visit the organization’s website.

Burn and Brew

Federal Galley and Union Fitness are teaming up for an early afternoon workout in Nova Place Plaza, followed by a mimosa or beer. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite and include the exercise class and one brunch beverage.
