Forget the snow, get out and celebrate the arrival of spring with Roaming Social Club, live shows at Get Hip, gluten-free brunch bonanzas at Threadbare and free admission to Carnegie Science Center

Thursday, March 21

Mason Jar Workshop at Modern Cafe

Pop Craft will be hosting a craft mason jar workshop at the Modern Cafe in Allegheny West from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The workshop is suited for all experience levels. All necessary tools and materials will be provided. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

Food Trucks at Commonplace Coffee at MWS

Commonplace Coffee at Mexican War Streets will be hosting Blue Sparrow Food Truck from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Friday, Commonplace will be hosting Billu’s Indian Grill Food Truck from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in part of their March food truck series.

 

Friday, March 22

Roaming Social Club at Teutonia Männerchor

Roaming Social Club will be at the Teutonia Männerchor from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Guests will be able to enjoy live music from the “Lisa Bleil Trio” and food will be available. Roaming Social Club is a mobile social club that explores the numerous private ethnic clubs and destinations throughout the City of Pittsburgh. Attendance is free for members and $15 for non-members. Hops for Hearth at Alloy 26

HEARTH will be hosting their 8th annual Hops for Hearth fundraising event at Alloy 26 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guests will be able to enjoy craft beers from 17 local microbreweries including Grist House, Southern Tier Brewing Co., and Penn Brewery. Additional food and refreshments will also be provided along with a silent auction. Tickets are $40, proceeds benefit HEARTH, a housing assistance program for domestic abuse survivors. Demos Papadimas & Emily Rodgers at Get Hip Records

Get Hip Records in Chateau will be hosting a special performance from Cleveland-based Demos Papadimas and Pittsburgh’s Emily Rodgers from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The concert will also feature a solo performance from André Costello, of Costello & The Cool Minors. Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers at MCM Jazz

Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild Jazz will be hosting two-time Grammy award nominated saxophonist, Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers along with special guest Bria Skonberg. A 6 p.m. and an 8:30 p.m. show will be available. For more information, visit MCM Jazz’s event page.

Rushing Horizons at New Hazlett Theater

Texture Contemporary Ballet’s production of “Rushing Horizons” at New Hazlett Theater from Friday, March 23 thru Sunday, March 24. A special children’s performance will be hosted on Saturday at 4 p.m. Children 10 and under are encouraged to join in a 30-minute presentation of the show. Gluten-Free Brunch at Threadbare Cider and Mead

Threadbare Cider and Mead will be hosting a Gluten-Free Brunch Bonanza from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Menu items include polenta-crusted pizza, treats from Gluten Free Goat Bakery & Café, gluten-free waffles and pasta from Café Chocolade, and gluten-free beer from Auroch’s Brewing Company. Shovlin Academy of Irish Dance at the Children’s Museum

The Children’s Museum will be hosting a special performance from the Shovlin Academy of Irish Dance from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. and a second showing from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit the museum’s event page.

Duquesne Light Community Day at Carnegie Science Center

The Carnegie Science Center will waive admission fees all-day in part of Duquesne Light Community Day. Access to the museum’s exhibit, Highmark SportsWorks, a special free showing of “Dream Big” at the Rangos Giant Cinema and free parking are all included. Easter Egg Hunt at Emmanuel Christian Church

Emmanual Christian Church in Brighton Heights will be hosting a free Palm Sunday breakfast along with an Easter Egg Hunt from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

Anime Club & Sahaja Meditation at Allegheny Library

The Allegheny Carnegie Library will be hosting an Anime Club from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. where guests can share and discuss their favorite anime or manga readings.
