Talk about some eclectic ways to have fun, this weekend has International Women’s Day celebrations at Alloy 26, 80s Night at the Rivers Casino, a Maple Festival at Threadbare Cider and Mead, and of course — fish fries.

Thursday, March 8

International Women’s Day at Alloy 26

Alloy 26 is celebrating International Women’s Day all-day with a number of free events. Events include morning panels (breakfast included) with Flexable, co-founder Jessica Strong, Amy Scanlon of Story Smart, LEVELS founder, Ebony McQueen-Harris, The Incline’s Rossilyne Culgan, and Faros Properties’ Gretchen D’Atri along with an afternoon yoga session at Union Fitness and an evening happy hour sponsored by Aunt Flow. Girls Night Out: Flight Night at Southern Tier

Looking to improve your craft beer knowledge? Southern Tier will be hosting an informal and informative brewery tour and Q&A session about microbrews. The event starts at 6:30 and refreshments will be provided. For more information visit the event’s Facebook page.

 

Friday, March 9

OHM Project & Tom Boyce at California Coffee Bar

OHM Project will be featuring Tom Boyce on guitar for a special live performance at California Coffee Bar. The show starts at 7 p.m., for more information visit the event’s Facebook page.

80s Invasion at the Rivers Casino

The Drum Bar at the Rivers Casino will be hosting an 80s-themed night from 9 p.m. to midnight. 80s cover band, Ferris Bueller’s Revenge will be performing. For more information visit the event’s Facebook page.

Rep. Jake Wheatley at Kaffeehaus

State Representative Jake Wheatley will be at the Kaffeehaus in East Deutschtown from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to answer any questions residents may have. For more information visit the event’s Facebook page.

Wagsburgh One-Year Anniversary

Wagsburgh in Historic Deutschtown will be celebrating their one-year anniversary with a number of weekend celebrations including Ash & Kris Food Truck from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Ladybug Delightz Artwork 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Easter Bunny photo-ops on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information or to see a full schedule of events, visit Wagsburgh’s Facebook page.

Angela Autumn at Bier’s Pub

Folk singer, Angela Autumn will be performing at Bier’s Pub from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information visit the event’s Facebook page.

Paquito D’Rivera at MCG Jazz

Paquito D’Rivera will be performing at Manchester Craftsman’s Guild. The 14-time Grammy winner will be playing two shows at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively. For more information or to purchase tickets visit the MCG Jazz event page.

Maple Festival at Threadbare Cider and Mead

Sunday, March 11

“24 Hour Flowers” Book signing at City Books

Matt Holbein co-author of “24 Hour Flowers” with Emily Brooks will be at City Books from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Holbein will also be hosting a brief demonstration during the event. For more information visit City Books’ event page.

Sound Series at the Andy Warhol Museum

Jonathan Richman and Tommy Larkins will be performing at the Andy Warhol Museum at 7:30 p.m. in part of the museum’s Sound Series event. Tickets are $15 for non-members, for more information, visit the museum’s event page.

Anime Club and Sahaja Meditation at the Allegheny Library

Enjoy reading manga or watching anime? The Anime Club will be meeting from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Allegheny Library where guests can enjoy and share in their favorite parts of Japanese culture.
