The first weekend in March has plenty of live music, the returns of Vinyl Night at The Park House and Pear and the Pickle’s Burgers ‘n’ Beers plus let’s not forget, sword fighting lessons at the Carnegie Science Center.

Thursday, March 1

Big Band at the Allegheny Elks

The Jazz Conspiracy is back at the Allegheny Elks Lodge in Historic Deutschtown. Dance lessons with Mark Peters start at 7:15 p.m., the band takes the stage at 8 p.m. A $10 cover does apply, for more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

Burgers ‘n’ Beers at Pear and the Pickle

It’s the first Thursday of the month, you know what that means? Burgers ‘n’ Beers returns to Troy Hill’s Pear and the Pickle. Roundabout Brewery will provide the beers, dining starts at 5 p.m. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

Her Ladyship with Andrew Hendryx Band at Scratch F&B

Her Ladyship returns to Scratch F&B for their usual Thursday night slot with special guest the Andrew Hendryx Band. Music kicks off at 9:30 p.m., late night food menu starts at 10 p.m. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

 

Friday, March 2

“Inside Passage” Opening Night

Quantum Theater presents the world premiere of Gab’s Cody’s “Inside Passage” at Provident Charter School in Troy Hill. The opening night’s show will start at 8 p.m and include post-show refreshments. “Inside Passage” will be playing from March 2 thru March 25, with 8 p.m. showtimes Wednesdays through Saturdays and 7 p.m. showtimes on Sundays. Science After Dark at the Carnegie Science Center

The monthly 21-and-over event is featuring a “Medieval Times” theme. The event starts at 6 p.m. and will feature demonstrations from weaponry used during the Middle Ages, sword fighting lessons and even a special 7 p.m. screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail Sing-Along at the Giants Rangos Cinema. Vegan Soul Dinner at YMWAHA

The Young Men and Women’s African Heritage Association will be holding a special vegan soul dinner fundraising event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

Saturday, March 3

45th Annual Library Chess Tournament

The Woods Run Library will be hosting the 45th annual Library Chess Tournament for children grades K to 8. Winners from each local tournament will qualify for entry in the Allegheny County finals. Participants are divided into two divisions Junior (grades K through 4) and Senior (grades 5 through 8). Vinyl Record Night at The Park House

Vinyl Record Night will be back at The Park House the first Saturday of every month. DJs SoulfulFella, Joey B-Sides and Tyler Swift will take turns allowing guests to play their favorite vinyl records from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

The Children’s Home Birthday Bash at Heinz Field

The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center will be celebrating its 125 anniversary with the 17th Annual Shake Your Booties dance party, raffle and auction. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the event’s Facebook page.
