Northside Happenings December 28 – 31, 2017

The last Northside Happenings of 2017 does not disappoint, offering up residents a multitude of ways to enjoy the last weekend of the year. Happy New Year, Yinz!

Thursday, December 28

Gypsy Stringz at Huszar

Last time to see the string quartet before the New Year. Swing by Huszar in Historic Deutschtown from 7 p.m to 10 p.m. and enjoy some classic string tunes. For more information visit the FB page.

Owl Camps at the National Aviary

The National Aviary will be holding two Owl Camps this weekend. Ages 6 to 8 will be held on Thursday, ages 9 to 12 on Saturday, December 30 both camps will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will get an up-close look at how the owls live, eat and an assortment of craft projects will be dedicated towards owl education. Friday, December 29

Code and Supply Scholarship Party at the Mattress Factory

Code and Supply will be hosting a fundraising event from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Code and Supply Scholarship Fund which is used to support students who aspire work and study in technical fields. Food will be provided by Black Radish, entertainment from Youngstown native JD Eicher and guests will have full access to the museums exhibit. New Year’s Eve Eve Eve at the Park House

Buffalo Rose will be playing a celebratory holiday show before the last day of the year. Swing by the Deutschtown watering hole from 8 p.m. till midnight to catch the live performance, admission is free. For more information visit the event’s FB page.

Saturday, December 30

Totally 80s Party at Rivers Casino

Want to get a jump on your New Year’s Eve celebration? The Rivers Casino will be hosting an 80s themed night from 9 p.m. to midnight. For more information visit the event’s FB page.

 

Sunday, December 31

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns

The last home game of the season. Whether or not you have tickets for the game, watch the Steelers try and clinch home-field advantage for the postseason on one of the two big screens at Stage AE during their Steelers Tailgate. Doors open at 9 a.m. for more information visit Stage AE’s event page.

Game Day Drafts at Threadbare Cider and Mead

Before the ball drops, enjoy the last regular season week of football with half-priced drafts at Threadbare Cider and Mead in Spring Garden from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For additional information visit the event’s FB page.

Countdown to Noon at the Children’s Museum

Looking for an early bird New Year’s celebration? The Children’s Museum will be hosting their ‘Countdown to Noon’ party from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Enjoy live music from Lee Robinson and Iska band and guests will also have a chance to go live on-air with Larry Berger from the Saturday Night Brigade. New Year’s Eve Celebrations

There’s no shortage of options for Northside celebrations. Check out the list and links below to see which local bars and restaurants will make your celebratory cut.

NYE at Scratch F&B in Troy Hill

Looking for a sophisticated NYE celebration? Scratch will be hosting a four-course wine and food pairing from 5 p.m to 10 p.m. Tickets are $80 ahead and can be purchased online. For additional information or to view the menu pairings, visit the event’s FB page.

Brew Year’s Eve at Federal Galley

The new Nova Place food hall will be hosting their Brew Year’s Eve from 9 p.m. till midnight. Tickets are $80 and will be feature unlimited pours from the bar’s 25-craft beer selection. Visit the event’s FB page for more information.

Black and Gold Party at Tequila Cowboy

Celebrate the NYE with your Pittsburgh pride. The event starts at 8 p.m. and will feature karaoke, live music, bull riding and midnight champagne. For more information or to purchase tickets visit the event’s FB page.

NYE Bash at Bier’s Pub

The neighborhood favorite will feature music from Joel Pace Organ Trio from 9:30 p.m. till 12:30 p.m and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight for guests. The event has a $10 cover, for more information visit the event’s FB page.
