Northside Happenings September 14 – 17, 2017

Between ghost hunts, craft beer giveaways, fashion workshops, Oktoberfest at Penn Brewery, Farm Aid and the Steelers home-opener this weekend may very well, have it all.

Thursday, Sept. 14

Gypsy Strings at Huszar

The Hungarian bar will be welcoming back the string quartet from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Admission is free, food and beverage are not. For more information visit the event’s FB page.

 

Luxuria at Scratch F&B

Full Pint Brewing and Black Forge Coffee House teamed up to make the Luxuria IPA. The coffee-beer mash-up will be available for a limited time, but enthusiasts can grab a pint at Scratch Food & Beverage tonight from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information on the event and Luxuria’s 11-event tour check out the event’s FB page.

 

Halloween Costume Giveaway

The Brightwood Civic Group will be giving away free Halloween costumes from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. And again on Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information visit BCG’s website.

 

Headshot Happy Hour at The Foundry

The North Shore brewpub will be holding a networking event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In between rounds, photographer Abby Gleason will be providing guests with the chance to get an updated headshot for their work portfolios. For more information visit the event’s page.

Friday, Sept. 15

Penn Brewery Oktoberfest

Penn Brewery’s Oktoberfest is back. Celebrate the first weekend of the festival this Friday through Sunday. The event will be held 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights and will run from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. There is no cover charge and food and beverage will be provided by Penn Brewery. For more information on the live music schedule and additional details visit the event’s page.

 

Vintage Clothing Pop-Up

Lisa Maria Bruno and Fashion Hack N’at will be sponsoring the ‘Vintage Clothes N’at Pop-up Shoppe’ at 1427 Davis Avenue. The former Hollywood seamstress and Vainities owner will be offering a workshop for attendees who wish to learn more about fashion in cinema, vintage clothing in addition to sewing and hemming techniques. Bruno will be teaching the workshops Friday 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information on the event and ticket prices visit the event’s FB page.

 

Ghost Hunt at Anderson Manor

Ghosts N’at Paranomal Adventures will be touring the Anderson Manor in Manchester aka “The House the Devil Built.” The event is unfortunately sold-out, but local residents may be interested in keeping an eye out for more upcoming tours. Community Day at Sarah Heinz House

Looking for some family fun? The Sarah Heinz House will be hosting Community Day 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event is free and will feature live entertainment, barbecue, a scavenger hunt, a robotics demo and an open gym and swim. For more information on the event visit Sarah Heinz House website.

 

Farm Aid Eve at Wigle Whiskey

Farm Aid will be at Key Bank Pavilion on Saturday, but fans can get an early jump on the action at the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse Friday night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Farm Aid Eve will feature live music from the Banditos and food from Kimberly Ashlee Catering. Saturday, Sept. 16

Fire Cider Making at The Farmer’s Daughter

Want to learn how to make herbal medicine? Visit The Farmer’s Daughter Flower shop on E. Ohio St. from 1 pm. to 3 p.m. for a workshop on fire cider. Fire cider is a traditional herbal remedy used for boosting the immune system. The workshop will run by the Farmer’s Daughter Flower staff and guests are encouraged to bring an empty mason jar to the event for storage. For more information visit the event’s FB page.

 

Alcosan Open House

Alcosan will be holding their family-friendly Open House 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Guests can partake in a number of environmental education workshops and tour the facilities. Lunch will be provided. For more information on the event visit the event page.

 

Deutschtown Summer Series

T.J. Connelly of Chrome Moses will be featured for this week’s installment of the series. The BYOB event is held at Arnold’s Tea 6:00 p.m to 7:30 p.m. and is free to the public. For more information on the Deutschtown Summer Series visit their FB page.

Sunday, Sept. 17

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Minnesota Vikings at Heinz Field

It’s the Steelers home opener, ’nuff said. The Steelers Tailgate will be hosted at Stage AE. Doors open at 9 a.m. and admission is free.
