Public input needed for Allegheny Commons Park

By Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is working on restoring Pittsburgh oldest park, Allegheny Commons, and community members can help by supporting the initiative by submitting public comments. Through the competitive Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) state grant program, we’ve requested support for the following projects in the park:

• Fountain restoration: Reconstruct the historic northeast fountain, located at the corner of North and Cedar.

• Promenade renovation: Repave, install benches and lighting, and plant new trees.

• Bridge reconstruction: Construct a new bridge spanning the railroad near Lake Elizabeth.

Although the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy knows how important this restoration is to our community, this grant is very competitive. The 2015 application for the Frick Environmental Center was successful in large part because of the 315 comments Pittsburghers like you submitted, so we are asking that you once again show your support by clicking here and telling us why Allegheny Commons Park is important to you. The public comment period closes on Thursday, March 30.
