Day of Hope Picnic with Casting Crowns volunteering to serve

Light of Life Rescue Mission will host a Spring Day of Hope Picnic on Saturday, March 4, in West Park across from Light of Life, 10 E. North Ave.  There will be free food, clothing for those in need, a prayer tent, and music provided by K-LOVE.  The purpose of this day is to meet tangible needs and share the hope of Christ to those who are hurting.

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with Christian band Casting Crowns serving from 12-1:20 p.m. They are on “The Very Next Thing” tour and will play at the PPG Paints Arena at 7 p.m. that evening, a concert presented by Generation Exodus and K-LOVE.  Thirty-seven volunteers will make this event possible, including members of Casting Crowns and volunteers selected through K-LOVE’s contest.  To be entered in the contest, K-LOVE listeners signed up to volunteer at Light of Life on designated days.  Volunteers and Light of Life residents will be attending the concert.

Background on Light of Life Rescue Mission: Established in 1952, Light of Life Rescue Mission is a Christian nonprofit organization providing life changing recovery programs and food and shelter for Pittsburgh’s poor and homeless.  Men, women and children are provided case management and programs designed to meet diverse needs, including recovery from substance addiction, help for mental health issues, and educational courses to prepare them for careers and independent living.  The Mission is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  No one is denied services based on race, creed, gender, religious views, age or national origin.  Light of Life is supported largely by private donations.  To learn more, call 412-258-6100, visit lightoflife.org, or find us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
