The newest neighbors on 1010 Cedar Avenue may have set an all-time high precedent in décor, hospitality, and generosity.
Established August 1 of this year, The Allegheny Inn has been offering guided tours, exquisite lodging, and the promise to give back to the Northside community where it resides.
William and Mary Mohrmann built the lavish home in the late 1880’s on land leased from heiress Mary Schenley. In 2011, Mr. and Mrs. Justin Mistovich, with partner Brent Bissel, purchased the 34-year vacant property with the intention of converting it into a bed and breakfast. With a focus on detail, original crown moldings, window details, ceiling medallions, hand railings and spindles were incorporated with much new fixtures to create the current luring atmosphere.
Complete with 15 rooms, which include six full baths and two powder rooms, six bedrooms, two parlors, and nine fire places, the Victorian mansion exudes beauty and a warm welcome.
On Saturday, December 17, The Allegheny Inn hosted a premiere holiday party complete with cookie table and exchange, house tour, and flourishing food and cocktails. In addition, General Manager Robert Miles vowed that each Allegheny Inn event would be an opportunity to share with those in our area who need assistance.
“We are proud to be the Cornerstone of Historic Deutschtown and part of the Deutschtown Community,” said Miles, also of Downtown Concierge Services. “This year we chose the Light of Life Rescue Mission as the recipient of the Holiday Fundraiser 2016 fund.”
Thanks to friends, visitors, and the many sponsors of The Allegheny Inn, including Mary Mac Bakehouse, Byte Me Bakery, Pittsburgh Fudge Company, and co-host Friendly Pittsburgh Foodie, a $300 contribution was made to the Northside based mission.
“The Allegheny Inn, management, staff and partners realized that we were in the position to give back to the local community,” said Tasha Eakin, Events Coordinator and owner of the Food Tasters.
The ever-accommodating staff, full of profound style and generous hearts, opened the Inn doors on Christmas Eve that collected money for the Northside Food Pantry. The suggested donation was $5 per person, and the Inn provided hot chocolate, cookies, and a variety of shrimp cocktail, ham sandwiches and homemade hummus for early arrivals.
