Registration open for summer theater camp

By John Fries

Pittsburgh-area teens age 13-17, both those contemplating a career in the dramatic arts and those who’d just like to develop their acting skills and self-confidence, are encouraged to register for Prime Stage Theatre’s 2017 Summer Theatre Camp, Monologues and Movement.

The camp runs Monday, June 19 through Thursday, June 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Prime Stage Studio, 840 Saw Mill Run Boulevard in the West End. The week ends with a showcase performance on Friday, June 23 at 7:00 p.m.

Classes are taught by professional actors with extensive experience in dance, movement, voice, acting, and improvisation. Tuition is $150 per student.

Because space is limited, and due to the camp’s popularity, early registration is recommended, at www.primestage.com.

“Camp participants have lots of fun discovering ways to express their individuality and gain new skills as performers and readers in the classroom and on the stage,” says Wayne Brinda, Prime Stage‘s co-founder and artistic director, himself a longtime educator and theatrical director

Prime Stage Theatre, founded in 1996, is now in its 20th year of entertaining, educating and measurably improving literacy among its audience members by presenting professionally produced plays based on important works of classic and contemporary literature as well as a full schedule of school and community education programs for all ages.

Prime Stage‘s education programs are funded, in part, through the generous support of The Grable Foundation, The Laurel Foundation, PNC Charitable Trust, Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, and The State Farm Foundation.
