Teutonia Männerchor will open to the public Oct. 7-9

Teutonia Männerchor’s first public Oktoberfest will set up under a tent in the lower parking lot off Phineas Street on Friday, Oct. 7 through Sunday, October 9.

President John Erksine noted in the club’s newsletter, “This will be a true Munich-style event with good music, good beer and good food and an opportunity for us to show how our club is preserving the traditions and culture of Germany!”

Admission at the tent is $10. Attendees can buy beers from bier wagons that will serve Oktoberfest (as well as Munich Gold and Weissbier) from Hacker-Pschorr brewery in Munich, where Oktoberfest started in 1810, as well as the new Block House Oktoberfest from Pittsburgh Brewing Co. They also can purchase food– everything from hot pretzels to potato pancakes to currywurst– and there’ll be live music, dancing, demonstrations and other German fun, as well as merchandise.

Hours are 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
