To combat the recent violence in some neighborhoods, churches in Marshall-Shadeland, Brightwood, and Brighton Heights are coming together in an effort to increase awareness and restore safety throughout the communities.
The at 2 p.m. on June 12, the Prayer Rally for Peace will be held in Legion Park, located at the corner of Brighton Road and Davis Avenue. Kerry Kennelly, a member of the Pastoral Life Committee of Risen Lord Church, said that Mayor Bill Peduto will be in attendance to show his support.
The Committee said hymns will be sung, prayers will be spoken, and there will be two speakers: Reverend Rick Weiss of Emmanuel Christian Church and Reverend Brenda Gregg of Destiny of Faith Church.
“We want to make people aware that we can watch out for one another,” Kennelly said.
The Committee said that this is not “an anti-gun rally and will have no political platform or agenda,” they are just looking to restore peace within the community.
