New Aviary exhibit to open this week

The Pittsburgh Avairy will open its newest show, “Nature’s Voice,” this Friday, Jan. 8, to the public. The show will feature six birds including a pair of Burrowing Owls that were hatched and raised at the Pittsburgh Aviary in Allegheny Center, a Palm-nut Vulture, a Laughing Kookaburra, a Harris Hawk, Silver Gulls and a Eurasian Eagle-owl. “Nature’s Voice” will have two daily showtimes at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.. Tickets are $5 in addition to general admission.

Cathy Schlott holds Severus, a 20-year-old palm-nut vulture during the Nature’s Voice exhibit. Severus is one of only four palm-nut vultures audiences can see in captivity.
