An artist depiction of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination on the fateful night of April 14, 1865.

By Justin Criado

Tuesday, April 14 marks the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, which happened while Lincoln and his wife, Mary Todd, were watching the popular play “Our American Cousin” at Ford’s Theater in Washington D.C.

To honor the anniversary of such a tragic event Carlow University theater director, and Northside resident, Stephen Fatla, will be staging the 150th Benefit Production of Our American Cousin written by Tom Taylor, opening Tuesday night at 8 p.m. and running through April 19 at Carlow’s Antonian Theater in Oakland, in conjunction with the Carlow University Theatre and 9th Pennsylvania Reserves. Fellow Northsider, Tom Colber, will also participate as one of the play’s leading roles.

Tickets are $20-40, while seniors and non-Carlow students receive a $5 discount. Tickets are free for Carlow students.

Photo Antiquities located on 531 East Ohio St. in Historic Deutschtown will also be on hand presenting a special Civil War and Lincoln display. There will also be Civil War reenactors, and rumor has it a Mr. Abraham Lincoln will also be in attendance.

For more information or to make reservations visit the official website.
