Troy Hill to create new community garden space, restore office facade

By Sabrina Romano

Troy Hill will be getting a facelift this summer as two community projects aim to restore and beautify two separate areas.

First, the Troy Hills Citizen, Inc. (THC) will be restoring the front facade of its office building on 1619 Lowrie St. Project architect Mark Chachula of 71a Consulting was referred to the THC by the Design Center’s consultant program.

Chachula found that the building dates back to the 1880s.

While the THC building will be restored to former glory, the THC will also be adding a new space to the community.

The THC received a Love You Block grant through ServePGH to create a community garden on Lookout St. Anyone interested in maintenance, planning or growing are welcomed to attend the committee meeting tonight, Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church Hall at 1710 Hatteras St. to help plan the space. This new garden is part of a larger beautification project.

Last September the THC redesigned the park between Claim and Lager Streets.

If you have any questions about the meeting or garden project contact Lenore of THC at 412 901-7582 or email troyhillpittsburgh@gmail.com.
