State Rep. Adam Ravenstahl, D-Allegheny, was sworn-in at the state capital Tuesday, Jan. 6 for a third full term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives serving residents of the 20th Legislative District.

Ravenstahl and other state House members were sworn in at Noon. The state constitution requires each term of the legislature to begin on the first Tuesday of the year.

“It is a privilege to serve as the voice of the 20th Legislative District in Harrisburg,” Ravenstahl said. “I will continue to fight for working families that I represent. I will continue to fight for better funding for our communities and schools.”

Ravenstahl said the best way to generate additional funding for education is a fair tax on Marcellus Shale drillers. He added that his legislative priorities also include creating family-sustaining jobs, public safety, and clean air and water.

Ravenstahl said his staff will continue to provide top-notch constituent services. His office at 3689 California Ave. in Brighton Heights is open from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Ravenstahl also said residents may visit his website (www.pahouse.com/Ravenstahl) for updates on his work and can contact him via email.

Due to redistricting, the 20th District now includes Avalon, Bellevue, Northview Heights and additional parts of Ross Township. Portions of Lawrenceville, Polish Hill and the Strip District, plus parts of the Northside and West View, remain in the district.

Ravenstahl won a special election in May 2010 to finish the final six months of former State Rep. Don Walko’s term. Walko resigned after he became an Allegheny County judge. Ravenstahl won his first full term in November 2010.
