It’s going to be a busy weekend here on the Northside with a couple of free events Saturday and Sunday.

First up, Venture Outdoors will be holding a Family Outdoors Festival Saturday, Aug. 23 from noon-4 p.m. at Allegheny Commons park.

The festivities will feature a climbing wall, Tyke Hikes, kayaking on Lake Elizabeth, scavenger hunts, biking and various arts & crafts. There will be something for everyone.

Following the festival, Carnegie Science Center general admission will be free Sunday, Aug. 24.

CARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTER PRESS RELEASE

On Sunday, Aug. 24, general admission to the Carnegie Science Center will be generously underwritten by the Jack Buncher Foundation. Visitors can discover hundreds of hands-on exhibits, including Highmark SportsWorks®, free of charge from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Guests can engineer a mini-city in the BLUE! exhibit, explore a walk-in replica of the International Space Station, challenge a robot to a game of air hockey, and take a walking tour of western Pennsylvania at the world-renowned Miniature Railroad & Village®, plus much more.

Parking, Omnimax films, and laser shows are not included.
