Volunteers created a garden space for the Northside Coalition Senior Housing at 1500 Brighton Place on Tuesday.

Board members of the NCFH and Rivers Casino team members transformed the grassy space in the back of the housing as part of a beautification project, which is an annual NCFH effort.

“Every year we try to beautify the space,” NCFH executive director Ronell Guy said. “We just try to make something beautiful for the seniors.”

Rivers Casino participated in the day’s festivities as a proud partner.

“As a Northside neighbor, we’re committed to helping groups like the Northside Coalition for Fair Housing in their efforts to beautify the community,” Rivers Casino director of community development Rahmon Hart said in a press release.

Each month team members of Rivers Casino help out with a Pittsburgh community project.

Guy said the NCFH tries to complete up to four beautification projects a summer, ranging from gardening to street sweeping to painting murals.

“We just do what needs done,” Guy said.
