JROTC Memorial Day Ceremony

On May 26, Pittsburgh Public School’s only JROTC Program once again distinguished themselves by participating in the Legion Park Memorial Day Ceremony.

The Ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. with the JROTC Commodore Battalion presenting the Colors and the POW/MIA Flag, which was hung at Half Staff on the Legion Park flag pole. The Cadets also placed American Flags on the Memorial Grave Markers for our fallen Veterans during the ceremony.

The wars that were represented at the Memorial Day Ceremony were The War of 1812, The Civil War, Spanish American War, World War 1, World War 2, Korean War, Vietnam Era Conflict, Desert Storm Conflict, Iraq Conflict and the Afghanistan Conflict. Additionally, Cadet Robert Jones played Taps at the end of the Ceremony in remembrance of our Veterans.

The JROTC program is surrounded by the vision of providing a quality citizenship, character and leadership development program, while fostering partnerships with communities and education institutions. This was certainly done this past Memorial Day weekend as the Pittsburgh Perry High School JROTC Cadets placed well over 1000 American Flags on the graves of our fallen Veterans at Highwood Cemetery and their support to the Legion Park Memorial Day Ceremony.
