It’s not too late to open a good book this summer! Children under 12 can stop into the Carnegie Library Allegheny Branch and sign up for Summer Reading any time between June 10 and August 11. What’s CLP’s Summer Reading Club all about? Children read, win prizes, and enjoy free library programs. Grand prizes include Dave and Buster’s and Build-A-Bear gift cards, tickets to other fun Pittsburgh locations, and more!

Pittsburgh Public School Parents: Children finishing Kindergarten through 4th grade are already enrolled in the Summer Reading Program. We encourage you to read, enjoy free library programs and earn prizes! Save the Date: Summer Reading Club Finale at CLP Allegheny!

Northside teeens can participate in a similar program Teens finishing grades 5 through 11 can also sign up for Summer Reading at the library any time between June 10 and August 11. Participating teens will also have a chance to win our grand prize package: an iPad, iPad case, and $30 iTunes gift card! See a librarian for more information.

Other CLP Allegheny programs

Family Storytime
Join CLP for stories, songs, rhymes and a craft. Recommended for children 18 months and up with an adult. Storytimes takes place on Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings in July.

School-Age Fun
Drop in for something new each week—crafts, games, science experiments, and more! Recommended for children grades 2-5. School-Age Fun will be on Thursday afternoons at 3:30 in July.

Teen Time
Whether we’re battling on the Wii, creating something new or making a snack, there will be plenty to keep us busy! Recommended for teens finishing grades 5-11. Teen Time will be on Monday afternoons in July.

Stretch and Relaxation
By popular demand this adult class offering has been extended! This weekly program focuses on breath control and proper stretching Tuesday nights at 6 p.m.  It incorporates both yoga and aerobic exercise techniques. Instructor Cecelia is certified and has taught classes at the YMCA. A yoga mat and comfortable clothing is required. Call the Library for the exact schedule and to register.

Wise Walk
Wise Walk is a weekly walking program Thursdays at 10 a.m. geared towards adults 50+ (but all are welcome to participate). Participants will receive a pedometer and a t-shirt. Sponsored by Allegheny County Library Association, AARP and Highmark PALS. Light refreshments will be provided.

Nintendo Wii
Try your hand at the library’s video games Thursday afternoons from noon to 2 p.m. For beginners and gamers!
