St. Nicholas Parish of Millvale filed a second appeal to the court’s denial of their application of financial hardship that would allow them to tear down their old church in Troy Hill.

Though the parish is still in conversation with the Northside Leadership Conference about the sale and conversion of the historic church into an immigrant museum, both parties say there have been no drastic interruptions.

“We’re keeping our options open,” said Father Whalen, who runs the Millvale Parish.

Mark Fatla, executive director of the NSLC, said that the two parties have the biggest issues in the agreement solved, such as the price and contingency of a geotechnical study on the hillside.  

The church has sat unused for eight years, and the City denied the parish the right to demolish the building because it is an historic landmark.
