‘Last Lecture’ reading at the New Hazlett

The inspirational message of Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Paucsh has not been forgotten, even in death.

The Prime Stage Theatre will be hosting a reading of Paucsh’s “The Last Lecture,” which became an Internet sensation and a best-selling novel. Co-author Jeff Zaslow will be available during a post-performance reception for a book signing.

Paucsh was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September of 2006. Doctors gave him an estimate of six months before the cancer took his good health. He delivered this famous lecture one year later.

Pausch died on July 25, 2008, but his legacy lives on in the novel that made the New York Times Best Sellers List, with 5 million copies sold, and the Internet video of his speech, with more than 6 million views.

For every ticket sold, $1 will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

“The Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams,” does not focus on death, but rather how to overcome obstacles and living everyday to the fullest. Prime Stage Theatre will host this inspirational event tonight at the New Hazlett Theater at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be bought online or by phone.
