From Friends of the Riverfront:
Friends of the Riverfront is proud to announce the release of a new policy for mobility assist devices on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. The new policy recently adopted by the City of Pittsburgh is meant to accommodate the full range of motorized mobility assist devices for people who would not be able to enjoy this exceptional asset. The policy meets new regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Justice and Americans with Disabilities Act.
The new policy, effective immediately, encourages people of all ages and abilities to use the Three Rivers Heritage Trail without the concerns of an automobile centric hustle and bustle of an urban environment. This is accomplished by limiting the sound, potential emissions, size, weight, power and speed of the trail devices.
The complete mobility assist device policy is now available for review. To request a copy, call 412-488-0212 or email friends@friendsoftheriverfront.org. The policy can also be found on the Trail Status section of www.friendsoftheriverfront.org.
