This Weekend on the Northside: May 20-22

Every Thursday The Chronicle highlights a few weekend events.  Know of something we missed?  Leave a comment!

Saturday, May 21
What: Indoor Flea Market
When: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Allegheny Elks, 400 Cedar Ave.
Contact Joe Brown for more information at 412-758-6112 or 412-321-1834 or via e-mail at [email protected]

Saturday, May 21
What: Speaking of… Poetry/fiction reading
When: 8 p.m.
Where: Amani Coffeehouse on Foreland Avenue, Deutschtown
The May event features Jim Coppoc (poetry) Stacy Waite (spoken word) and Joseph Young (fiction). We seek to incorporate Spoken Word, Poetry, and all other Arts in one venue in a package that would be accessible to anyone, even our mailman. Especially our mailman. We’ve consistently brought in 70+ people to Amani Coffeehouse since our inaugural event in November.

Saturday, May 21
What: Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community
When: Registration begins at 7:45 a.m.; 5K walk begins at 9 a.m.
Where: Heinz Field, North Shore
Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield underwrites the cost of the walk so that 100 percent of all funds raised by walkers goes to support the missions of the 67 participating nonprofit, health and human service organizations. The 2011 walk will benefit 67 health and human service agencies in Western Pennsylvania
