Spread some holiday cheer with local charity drives

Allegheny Elks Christmas Charities Fund Drive

If you plan on donating money to those less fortunate this holiday season, the Allegheny Elks lodge is running its annual Christmas Charities Drive.

The Elks have held the drive for the past 50 years.  They’ve collected thousands of dollars over those years, as well as thousands of articles of clothing and food.

You can send a check to:

Allegheny Elks Lodge #339

Christmas Charities Fund Drive

P.O. Box 694

400 Cedar Ave.

Pittsburgh, PA 15212

If you are unable to make a financial contribution, but would still like to contribute, you can volunteer your time.  For more information, call 412-321-1834.

Rivers Casino and Toys for Tots

For the second year, Rivers has partnered with the Toys for Tots Foundation.  Each Wednesday in December, from noon to 8 p.m., customers who donate a toy will receive $10 in free slots play.  The toy must be new, unwrapped and have an estimated value of $15 or higher for the slot reward to apply.

“We are proud to once again partner with the Marine’s Toys for Tots Foundation and support the noble work they do for our local community,” said George Matta, Rivers Casino’s director of business development and community relations. “Last year, with the help of so many of our guests, River was able to supply more than a trailer truck full of toys to the program.”

Customers should take their toy donations to the Bus Lobby counter in the casino to get the discount.
