The Children’s Museum will be hosting Northside residents free of charge in their 4th annual Northside Neighborhood Weekend on June 26 and 27.

The museum will debut their newest exhibit, “Curious George: Let’s Get Curious on Saturday” where kids will experience early science, math and engineering through hands-on play.

The weekend will also include musical performances by the Ortner/Roberts Duo and Nathan Hall. Hall is a local composer who has written a group of songs about Northside Monuments. At 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, he will lead concert goers from the lobby of the New Hazlett Theater on a musical walking tour of some of those monuments in Allegheny Commons.

Both days will feature a display on sharks that allows children to physically hold and examine shark fossils.

According to Bill Schlageter, Director of Marketing for the Children’s Museum, the museum has been an important part of the Northside since its inception 27 years ago.

“We’ve had a tremendous role, economically,” Schlageter said. “But we’re proudest of being a resource on the Northside for families and children.”

To gain free entry, residents must present their Pennsylvania driver licenses with the zip codes 15202, 15212, 15214 or 15233. One adult can chaperone up to five children.

For details of the events, residents can go to www.pittsburghkids.org/calendar for all the information about the upcoming weekend.
