The Pittsburgh Public School District announced another hearing on the proposed closing of Morrow Elementry in Brighton Heights for Tuesday, Jan. 26 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Project Dining Hall at 2801 N. Charles Street.

Everyone interested in the fate of Manchester, Morrow and Schiller elementaries , recommended for closure, and Oliver High School — whose students might be relocated to Langley High School in the West End — may also attend.

This hearing comes after a Dec. 21 hearing held in Oakland, which drew criticism from the few attendees who showed up because the meeting was held so far away from the school in question, and because it was scheduled so close to Christmas.

The school district wants to close Morrow based on a facilities condition report by consulting firm DeJong, Inc., which studied the most effective use of all the district’s school buildings and suggested major closings and redistricting over the course of several years.

Under the plan, Morrow students would move to Rooney Middle School around the corner, and Rooney students would be spread out over several other middle schools, one of which is in Homewood.
