East Commons Community Friends to Garden Dinner to be held Aug. 29

The sixth annual East Commons Community Friends to Garden Dinner will take place on Aug. 29, from 5-11 p.m.

The party is a fundraiser to support the East Commons Community Garden, such as funding additional garden beds and free community events that take place at the garden.

Tickets are $75 and can be purchased at deutschtown.org/friends-to-gardendinner/.

Tickets for the event include a welcome cocktail/mocktail, cocktail hour, hors d’oeuvres, a dinner buffet and desserts. There will also be a silent auction, prize raffles and a 50/50 raffle.

The East Commons Community Garden was created in 2018 on the site of three abandoned city tennis courts. The 17,000-square foot site houses 54 raised garden beds, and is tended to by more than 75 volunteers.

The party is limited to guests over 21 and will be held rain or shine.

Back to school fair to be held in Fowler Park

The Northside Community Back 2 School Family Festival will be held on Aug. 16, from 1-5 p.m., at Fowler Park.

The event is organized by Legacy Community Options For All People (LCOP), a religious social services organization based on the South Side.

Backpacks and school supplies will be available for attendees. There will also be free food, live music, family activities and carnival games/amusement rides.
