Westbound North Avenue traffic to be detoured through spring
A detour for westbound traffic along North Avenue between Arch Street and Cedar Avenue will be in place through spring of 2026 as the city works to upgrade the road’s traffic signals and pedestrian safety measures.
The detour will begin during the week of Dec. 1 and will be in effect Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until the work is completed. Eastbound traffic is unaffected by the roadwork and will remain able to travel on the road.
The detour will utilize Cedar Avenue, East Ohio Street, East Commons, North Commons, West Commons, Ridge Avenue, West Ohio Street and Brighton Road.
The work will see the installation of upgraded traffic signals, including more visible signals, radar detection, pedestrian countdown timers and more. Other renovations include the installation of mid-block crossings, accessibility ramps, curb extensions/bumpouts and others.
