The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh announced that it received an $11,000 grant from Duquesne Light to renovate the aging electrical system at the Allegheny YMCA in Central Northside.

“We are extremely thankful for this grant from Duquesne Light,” said Bill Pricener, executive director of the Allegheny YMCA. “As the stewards of this historic Northside building, we are dedicated to preserving its safety and integrity. With support from community partners such as Duquesne Light, we can continue to serve Northside residents, including the 105 men who reside in our housing.”

The Allegheny YMCA opened its doors to Northside residents in 1927, and the original electric service dates back to one year earlier. The renovation project, completed on January 16th, included re-routing the entry and path for the building’s main electrical service.
